Today was the day we’ve been waiting for for what seems like FOREVER! Today was the day we expected to hear back from Latin to see whether or not Jack had been accepted. I have NEVER paid such close attention to the mailman’s arrival, but once he drove down the street I ran out to meet him AND…we got the big envelope!! HAWKS…HERE…WE…COME!!!

Watch out Wimbledon!
We signed Jack up for tennis lessons at the club after her recently asked to play. I’d offered to practice with him before his first lesson, so he’d have an idea of how to hold the racquet, etc., but he told John he didn’t want to play with Mommy until he had some lessons. Cute boy. So…today was his first lesson (with his new buddy and fellow Latin boy, Aston).
Aston and Jack waiting patiently in line together for their turns, hanging their tongues out of their mouths in deep concentration…
FINALLY…his turn! (Couldn’t wait to ask me after the lesson was over…”Mommy, did you see me hit it waaaay over the net?!”)
My sweet boy eagerly cleaning up the balls. Love the last one – Jack’s so enthusiastic, holding as many balls as he absolutely can while the kids next to him are just chatting.
The boys having a blast playing bomb, a version of freeze tag where the coaches try to “hit” them with the tennis ball as they run around the court. Think this may be Jack’s favorite part of the hour.
Sweet boys.

Happy Valentine’s Day!
Making heart garlands…one heart for each of the things they love.
Kingsley’s choices: playing, Jack and Brinkley, Yaya, Mimi and Papa, Mommy, Daddy,Corduroy, ballet, princesses
Jack’s choices: My family, special places like Discovery Place, Corduroy and Teddy, dinosaurs and dragons, Imagination.
Seriously…imagination? I could have fallen over. I couldn’t have imagined a better answer. He blows me away.
Making heart crayons for their school friends. Both kids LOVED choosing the different colors for each of the crayons and watching them melt together in the oven.
All three woke up to yoyo’s for their Valentine’s presents. Just a small thing, but they all LOVED them the other day at My Gym, so when I spotted them in the dollar bin at Target I knew they’d be excited. And they are!

20 Stars!!
For the past three weeks the kids have been working toward earning 20 stars for good behavior, which can be anything from using eye contact and talking to adults to playing well with each other. We ALL love our new star system…it’s easy to understand, follow and stick to. The kids were SUPER excited once they hit the 20 mark because they both knew that meant a trip to Target to pick out whatever they wanted. Kingsley chose a bath for her babies – a super cute pink claw-foot tub with a loofa and other accessories. Jack chose a great board game based on the book Where the Wild Things Are. I didn’t get a picture of Jack’s new game, but I was able to snatch one of him bathing Alligator in the tub. He was less than pleased about that one, but was happy to pose with Alligator later.

“You’re never fully dressed…
without a smile.” - Martin Charnin
We’ve always known Kingsley’s smile was sweet. Infectious. Contagious. But it seems that more than ever other people are noticing it too. We seem to be hearing it daily….”she smiles all the time.” “She’s always smiling.” “Is she always that happy?” And the answer is almost always yes. She is the kid that wakes up smiling and goes to bed smiling. It’s just one of the reasons we love her.
“Cork” the Chameleon
Jack caught his first chameleon today! He’s been wanting to catch one FOREVER, but as he gets close his nerves have always gotten the best of him. Until today. Now granted, Corduroy may have scared “Cork” into a near coma so that he virtually didn’t move as jack grabbed him, but nonetheless I had one very proud and excited boy!!
