Great season Piranhas!!

The Piranhas ended their season undefeated, and I like to think it was in part due to this guy:

After all…for every swimmer that completes their lap, the team receives a point. So truly, Jack’s swimming did count for his team.  But more importantly…it was great for him.  Last season he swam at one meet and then decided they were not for him.  They were too loud.  too intense.  We figured we’d try again this year.  And what a difference one year makes!  He swam at every meet, home and away.  And the last several meets he participated in the relays too!  He did SUCH a great job, learning how to breathe to the side while making his “big arms”.  I took entirely too many videos (with my WAAAAY too loud cheering in the background) that I hope to post, once I figure out how.

For a kid who swears he’s going to have both arms “sleeved” with tattoos when he grows up (ahhhh…what a way to make me proud!), getting to cover his body with permanent marker was possibly his favorite part of swim team.  On the morning of every race he’d ask if we could get out the marker…he couldn’t wait for the piranha to go on his back.

Of course Kingsley couldn’t be left out of the fun.  I drew a small piranha on her back, which she felt wasn’t large enough, so…

Such a ham…

Her latest obsession…when she finishes a puzzle, she shouts “again! again!”,

and as she takes each piece out to start over she says “take it out, take it out”.

Happy Father’s Day

One of the things I love the most about John is how easy going he is.  For father’s day, there was no need to ask him what he wanted.  Off to the meathouse I went, and picked out the largest, grossest, meatiest piece of steak I could find, and…that’s all he needed (plus a little time to watch the Masters) for his perfect day.

Introducing…

Jo-jo!

John and I had been talking a lot lately about being “ready” for a new dog.  I started looking through the humane society websites, and bringing the kids to look at a few different dogs.  I knew I wanted a bigger small dog, hopefully around a year.  But when I saw the pictures of Jojo and his littermates (who were found in a box inside of a carwash), I knew I couldn’t resist.  The kids and I drove to York, SC to a small rescue facility, and came home with Jo-Jo:
