A Visit from Old Friends

After his move to Jacksonville, Josh and Jack haven’t seen each other.  I think it’s actually been since Jack’s birthday party since the boys have gotten together!  So naturally, Jack was pumped for his buddy to visit us at the beach for the day.

If these faces don’t say EXCITEMENT, I don’t know what does! (But seriously – they DID have a great time, besides when I forced them to take a picture .)

Janice is a PROFESSIONAL beach goer.  I mean seriously…who brings such AMAZING tools?

Happy Easter…from the beach!

The kids were SO excited going to bed last night after they set out their baskets for the Easter Bunny.  So…we were up plenty before the sunrise, which was actually pretty nice for us all to watch.  That split second as the sun rises above the horizon is magical.  And quiet.  Each of the kids just watched, and waited for it:

Clearly there was not time for hairbrushing before ANY of our pictures!

Kingsley favorites were her baby boy, sunglasses and Belle ballerina Barbie.  Oh, and candy of course!

Alexandra loved her big shovel, which definitely came in handy at the beach.  And her Angry Birds candy.

Brinkley got some new much needed sippy cups and snack packs.  And a new baby doll.

Jack loved his Pez, big boy cups (without tops), but most of all his hanging glow-in-the-dark planets.  “Oh Mommy!  Look!!  I’ve always wanted these!!!!”

Christopher loved his new big boy cup too.

Our own little animal rescuer

Jack’s fascination/obsession with lizards continues.  He looks for them often, hoping to catch one.  Lately he’s been filling the edges between the mulch and grass with water in order to “give the lizards water”.  After filling one today, he noticed a caterpillar “drinking” the water.  As he took a closer look, I think he noticed what I did – that the caterpillar was NOT drinking.  In fact, it was not moving.  I tried to brace myself for the conversation that would come – how the water he’d put out had inadvertently drowned this poor little caterpillar.  “Mommy…do caterpillars like water?” he asked.  “No,” I told him.  “Maybe you should take him out,” I suggested.  So he did.  And then placed him on the wall.  And waited for him to move.  “Oh buddy,” I said, “I don’t think the caterpillar is going to move,” I told him. “Yes he is Mommy! Look!!”

Sure enough…that caterpillar made it through.  And so – instead of having a conversation I was dreading, I got to rave about what a great animal rescuer he is; if it weren’t for him saving the caterpillar, it would have drowned!  Oh, was he excited!  “Yeah…I’m just like Diego, Mommy!”

Happy Pre-Easter!

We went to the club’s Easter egg hunt today, complete with a pixie stick station, magician and airbrush tattoos.  The kids were in heaven!
